An Open Letter from Tender Rose's CEO

Datha Kimzey

Dear Reader,

It wasn’t long ago that I was standing where you are now. After my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, I began to learn everything I could about her condition to understand how our family could help her live the best possible life. As my mom spent time with her two primary caregivers, our family got to see just how important it is to find the right caregiver.

Pam engaged our mom in conversation and activities she loved doing, while the other caregiver was primarily a sitter. On the days Pam came, my mom had a great day, but when the second caregiver was there, mom’s condition seemed to get worse. It became clear to me that it takes a very special type of caregiver to connect with a person living with dementia.

I started Tender Rose with the mission to improve the quality of life for people living with dementia and to improve the quality of life of their families. I’m proud to say we’ve achieved that goal for the clients we care for every day, and we’d be honored to do the same for you.

When my mother passed away in 2015, my siblings and I took comfort in knowing we did everything we could to give her the highest quality of life possible. The final years of her life were filled with joy, meaning and happiness, which is the best outcome I could have hoped for.

Best wishes,

Jim Kimzey
